Meet Diamond, my college bestie and the talent behind DPstyledme. Diamond is a wardrobe stylist based in Tampa, Florida and has mastered the art of crafting captivating looks for her clients and their unique personalities. I had the pleasure of chatting with my friend about the roots of her passion, her journey to becoming a stylist, and the transformative power of fashion in her life.
In our conversation, Diamond shares her insights, her motivations, and the profound connection she has with her craft. Her story is a testament to the notion that when one pursues their true calling, every moment becomes an opportunity for creativity and self-expression. So, let's dive into Diamond's world and gain an exclusive glimpse into her exceptional journey and her remarkable ability to help her clients make a statement, express themselves, and embrace their true, authentic selves.
Tell me about what you do/where you’re located/why you do what you do.
I am a wardrobe stylist based in Tampa, Florida. I do styling because it's all I know how to do! Lol, just kidding -- I do it simply because I love it. From styling friends and family, to the clients and brands I get to work with -- the places, the people, and the projects I get to interact with creatively are endless. It’s such a thrill and a privilege.
What led you to becoming a stylist?
I’ve always loved the unspoken language that clothing speaks. From a young age, I found fashion
to be one of the most powerful mediums in expressing myself. As an adult, I decided to start a business based on that exact premise. With each client I take on, I get to help people show up in the world in a way that feels authentic to them. Happy, mad, sexy, serious -- whatever statement you are trying to make, as a stylist I get the pleasure of using fashion and my creative lens to help you cultivate it.
What are you currently obsessed with?
I am currently obsessed with oversized and structured jackets! I specifically love when they're paired with more feminine details or pieces. Something about it just screams “power in femininity”.
What's on your wishlist?
This is a hard one! As a stylist there is an ever flowing list of items that I am tempted to personally
purchase or to send to a client. Currently, I am obsessed with all things shoes. I am a sucker for a borderline ugly shoe. I love the challenge of taking something that most people wouldn’t dare touch, and making it the focus of a cute outfit. Currently, some shoes on my list are:
1. Nike x Martine Rose Shox MR4 Mule "Safety Orange" sneakers
2. Marni Fussbett Textured Clogs
3. Dries Van Noten Pirate Sandal
What are some of your favorite places/things to do in your Tampa?
Tampa is honestly more of a relaxation haven, so keeping that mind, some of my favorite things to do are :
1. Coffee shop dates (Shout out Willa’s Provisions. They have my favorite iced matcha Latte in the city)
2. Collaborate on projects with other local creatives
3. Enjoy “long walks“ with my fiancé and dog-ther, Mini (We live down the street from the new and upcoming midtown area, so there are always other families out and about walking their pups
as well!)
What is inspiring you right now?
As a kid I used to be a huge bookworm. I am starting to work my way back into that! It started with my fiancé getting me to read comic books with him. From there we jumped to self help/inspirational books, and now I have made my way into fiction novels! Every time we travel, we make a point to stop at a used book store and grab a few books to take home! I don’t really research books before buying, so it's been very exciting to see how the topics and characters sometimes magically align with things taking place in my life at the moment! Through that, I’m constantly finding new inspirations and ideas to apply to my personal life and to my styling business! Moral of the story -- READ! :)
